Our Society is committed to providing our members with the best preparation for heading into the legal profession. We host a range of careers events each term which give members the opportunity to talk to lawyers from leading firms and chambers on an informal basis.
Two highlights of our social calendar are our Annual Dinner and our annual Garden Party in May Week, and we run a variety of fun events for our members throughout the year.
The majority of our members are law undergraduates studying for the Cambridge Tripos exams. Our second and third year members provide subject advice and support for those studying law. First year students are all invited to compete in the Girton College Law Society Annual Moot as part of their Girton experience in order to further their personal and academic development.
If you are interested in running an event in conjunction with the Girton College Law Society, please contact us.
Girton College Law Society hosts an annual dinner for members and fellows, held in Girton’s very own Stanley Library.
The evening begins with a drinks reception, followed by a three-course meal. The highlight of the night is a speech delivered by one of our esteemed speakers, who, in the past, have included:
Sir John Laws (2017)
Baronness Kingsmill CBE (2016)
Lady Justice Arden (2015)
Lord Mance, former Justice and Deputy President of the Supreme Court (2015)
Dr Guy O'Keefe, Partner at Slaughter and May (2014)
Baroness Hale (2012)
The Great Hall, Girton College
